Xuan-Yuan Sword: Mists Beyond the Mountains launches July 26

Publisher Gamera Games has confirmed the official release date of its localized port of the classic Chinese RPG Xuan-Yuan Sword: Mists Beyond the Mountains. The game arrives on PC via Steam on July 26, 2023. The game is also headed for Nintendo Switch, but its release date has not yet been confirmed.

Gamera also uploaded a new trailer for the game featuring some of the English-language dialog and interface.

The trailer shows off more from the game, which was first developed and released by Softstar Entertainment back in 1999 as Xuan-Yuan Xword 3. The series itself is the oldest and longest-running series of Chinese-language RPGs, and heavily incorporates Chinese history, mythology, and wuxia fiction into its fantasy settings and stories.

Xuan-Yuan Sword: Mists Beyond the Mountains stars a Frankish knight named Septem who journeys to the far east, to Tang Dynasty China, in search of "the invincible arts of war." The game blends martial arts and Chinese alchemy into its systems, and historical events like the Crusades and An Lushan uprising into its story.

Xuan-Yuan Sword: Mists Beyond the Mountains launches on PC on July 26, 2023. It is also headed for Nintendo Switch.
