Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door remaster is coming to Switch in 2024
Just in time to celebrate the game's 20th Anniversary, Nintendo announced that it will release a Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door remaster on the Switch in 2024. The company delivered the news via the latest Nintendo Direct broadcast, alongside a teaser trailer showing off some of its improvements.

The new trailer shows off gameplay from the new version of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. The game will have updated visuals to suit its new home on the Switch, but like the upcoming release of Super Mario RPG, should be otherwise the same under the hood. The original was released on the Nintendo GameCube in 2004, and is considered by many players to be one of the Super Mario franchise's greatest games. Its story follows Mario and his companions as they search out the legendary Crystal Stars, which are the key to unlocking the titular Thousand-Year Door, behind which the treasure-filled ruins of a lost kingdom sleep.
