Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name checks in on Kiryu smoking at a bar in its opening movie
Sega and RGG Studio revealed the opening movie to Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name. The theme song is "Katatoki" by Yojiro Noda and J.I.D.
The brief 2-minute opening cinematic that accompanies the song sees series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu arriving at a bar. He lights up a cigarette in silence and suddenly receives an unknown call. Ignoring it, he continues to smoke and drink before going on his way once more.
Japanese artist Yojiro Noda mentioned that he discovered American rapper J.I.D. on social media around 5-6 years ago. When asked if there were any artists he'd like to collaborate with for "Katatoki", he immediately brought up J.I.D. Producing the song was all done remotely as Yojiro Noda recorded in Japan and J.I.D. recorded in the United States.
Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name comes out on November 9 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC (Steam).
Atlanta-based hip hop artist J.I.D and Japanese musician Yojiro Noda partner with SEGA to create “Katatoki,” the theme song for this game. J.I.D is riding high off the release of 2022’s acclaimed The Forever Story, which saw the rising star collaborating with hip-hop giants including Lil Wayne, 21 Savage, Lil Durk and more. Yojiro is the lead singer of Radwimps who did the theme song from the anime blockbuster Your Name.
