Neuvillette is the Watcher in the Deep in a new Genshin Impact character teaser

Genshin Impact developer HoYoVerse revealed more about a new and upcoming character from the game's ongoing Fontaine story arc. In a new character teaser video, the company detailed Neuvillette, known throughout Fontaine as the Iudex, and the Ordainer of Inexorable Judgment.

Neuvillette is scheduled to join the playable roster during the game's 4.1 update, which will launch on September 27, 2023.

The trailer sheds more light on the Chief Justice of Fontaine. Famed for impartiality, the character teaser shows off more of his reflective side. He's had a long life, but seems to bear little connection to the society and people he lives alongside. In his own way, his role as an observer and arbiter of justice in Fontaine's court system serves himself as well, for in observing humanity, Neuvillette feels he may gain greater understanding of himself.

In an accompanying blog post, HoYoVerse also detailed Neuvillette's characteristics as a playable Hydro Catalyst-user.

Neuvillette can charge up his normal attack to fire a beam-like blast of water, and can absorb the "Sourcewater Droplets" generated by his Elemental Skill to heal himself. His Elemental Burst unleashes a powerful area-of-effect Hydro attack that hits thrice and generates even more Sourcewater Droplets.

Genshin Impact is available on PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile devices. The 4.1 update will launch on September 27, 2023.
