First Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer DLC out next week for free

EA and Bioware have announced that the first map pack for Mass Effect 3 will launch next week, bringing new maps, weapons and characters to the multiplayer battles of the action RPG.

Titled the Resurgence Pack - which we revealed three weeks ago - the pack adds a bunch of stuff to the multiplayer and will launch on April 10th on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Best of all, the download won't cost players who bought Mass Effect 3 new a penny.

The pack adds two new 'firebase' locations - multiplayer maps - titled Condor and Hydra. One is based on a Quarian/Geth world whilst the other is based on a moon of Palaven, the Turian homeworld.

The pack also introduces new characters and classes. Players can at last play as a Batarian or Geth for the first time with the Batarian Soldier and Sentinel and the Geth Engineer and Infiltrator classes.

Also being added are two classes roughly based off single player favourites - the Krogan Battlemaster (Vanguard) class is a Krogan with Biotic abilities like Wrex, while the Asari Justicar (Adept) comes packing the Biotic punch of Samara.

In addition to all that the free pack includes three new weapons - an SMG, Assault Rifle and Sniper Rifle. The contents of the DLC will still have to be earned through spending in-game currency on booster packs.
