Dragon Quest Tact English version shuts down on February 29
Square Enix has announced that the global English version of Dragon Quest Tact will no longer exist after February 29, 2024. The company cited the difficulty in maintaining an enjoyable gaming experience for players of the mobile game app as the primary reason for ceasing services. Sales of in-app purchase items like Gems, Metal Cards, and Passports have also ceased immediately as the announcement went up.
The global version of Dragon Quest Tact launched in January 2021, so it will have a total lifespan of slightly over 3 years when it shuts down next January. However, today's shutdown announcement only seems to affect the English version. The original Japanese version launched in July 2020, but it is still showing vigorous activity with numerous updates and promotions as recent as today. Japanese outlets like Automaton have also corroborated that the Japanese client is not affected by the English server closure.

Since DRAGON QUEST TACT's launch on Jan. 27, 2021, we've strived to provide an incredible and enjoyable gaming experience for our players every day that could exceed the day before. However, we've come to the conclusion that it would be difficult to continue maintaining the app experience, therefore we are ending the app service.
