Blizzard Entertainment has shared that the first expansion for Diablo IV, Vessel of Hatred, is launching on October 8. It will introduce a new class that's never been in the Diablo series before, the Spiritborn. Plus, Vessel of Hatred will add a myriad of new features for Diablo IV including mercenaries and an endgame PvE co-op activity.
They debuted the gruesome opening cinematic of Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred at the Xbox Games Showcase 2024 event. Those that have completed the main campaign of Diablo IV will see story character Neyrelle suffering from her decision to imprison Mephisto. In Vessel of Hatred, people traverse the land of Nahantu to search for her.
First details on the new Spiritborn class describe them as "apex predators of the jungle" that can "embrace the ethereal Spirits entwined with this ancient civilization." Blizzard will take a deeper look at the Spiritborn during their Class Reveal event on July 18.
Vessel of Hatred allows players to recruit Mercenaries that can be powered up as they progress through the expansion. They'll be armed with unique abilities to aid players in battle. Plus, Vessel of Hatred will add a dungeon that is the "first of its kind to Diablo" that has eager endgame players fight together in new PvE content tailor made for them.
