Gundam Breaker 4 main characters and story synopsis revealed
Bandai Namco has published more details on Gundam Breaker 4, which will be available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam simultaneously worldwide on August 29. The new information wave is mostly focused on the story background and main characters who will appear in this game.
The new game's story will take place 6 years after the Gundam Breaker 3. It will have the player join the beta test for a new version of the Gunpla battle simulator known as Gunpla Battle Blaze: Beyond Borders. The player will also encounter the following two characters, who will form an in-game clan with them:
Tao (voiced in Japanese by Taichi Kusano)
Despite being infamous for getting easily carried away and having a miserable side, Tao has a cordial friendship with you. Even though he likes Gunpla very much and has already collected information about GBBBB, he is still a newcomer whose debut was not too far away from you. Due to his vast knowledge, he can give tutorials in the game's early missions. He prefers SD units with a conservative battle style.
Lin (voiced in Japanese by Yuuki Takada)
With a cheery personality, Lin cares about her friends very well. She is also completely ready to take on challenges with a competitive spirit and an aggressive battle style. Even though she is just starting GBBBB, she is overcoming numerous dangers with willpower and guts.
The player will also eventually meet more characters other than their clanmates. They will particularly see Reco a lot since the AI character will host events and deliver news from GBBBB. Even though she is depicted as an AI who occasionally makes mistakes, she will be properly voiced in Japanese by Tomoyo Kurosawa.
Bandai Namco will also bring back some of the characters who had appeared in prior series entries. Gundam Breaker 3's heroine Misa will return as a 23 years-old office lady, while Mister Gunpla from the same game is focusing on being an MC and commentator after his retirement as a Gunpla builder. More characters who appeared in the now-defunct Gundam Breaker Mobile are also slated to return as opponents in the Battle Tournament stages. Their respective original Japanese voice actors like Yuka Iguchi and Katsuyuki Konishi will return to reprise the roles. However, Bandai Namco has also confirmed new English and Chinese voiceovers for all characters in the game including the returnees.
In addition, Bandai Namco has also published new screenshots of four Gunpla sets that will make their debut in the console series; namely the Gundam Livelance Heaven and Gundam Perfect Strike freedom from Gundam Breaker Battlogue as well as the regular ZAKU Warrior and Lunamaria's Gunner ZAKU Warrior from Gundam SEED Destiny. In GUNDAM BREAKER 4, players are in the latest evolution of the Gunpla Battle Simulator, in which they can meet online, chat, and socialise, allowing the program to reach unprecedented success. The story takes place as this new version of the simulator, called GUNPLA Battle Blaze: Beyond Borders (or GB4) is entering a beta test phase, in which the protagonist will participate. The protagonist meets Tao, a very knowledgeable but inexperienced user with a love for SD Gundam, and Lin, a beginner with a competitive spirit. The three of them form a clan and start going through battles, meeting new allies and rivals. As they progress through the ranks, they end up entering the “Battle Tournament”, the game’s biggest event.
In addition to Tao and Lin, protagonists like Reco, the AI character that delivers news and hosts events, Mister Gunpla, the commentary and MC for GB4 events or Misa, the veteran who led the Ayato Shopping District Gunpla team in GUNDAM BREAKER 3 will have a part in the game’s story.
