Fate/Grand Order Summer 2024 event launches with Lady Avalon, awards free Valkyrie Servants
Fans of Fate/Grand Order are getting a new taste of summer for this year, as operator Aniplex has launched the game's 2024 summer event. Titled "Arctic Summer World! Chaldea's Magical Summer Theme Park," the event will bring the Masters of Chaldea and their Servants to beat the heat in a frozen amusement park. As in previous years, the event presents players with the opportunity to farm up desirable materials, and debuts several new characters, including Lady Avalon.
Aniplex also showed off an animated trailer for the event, produced by animation studio CloverWorks.

The Fate/Grand Order summer event will challenge players to manage and develop an amusement park at none other than the North Pole, accumulating special "Visitor Points" and event currencies to earn various goodies and unlock new story missions. They can also improve attractions at the park to earn profits, and eventually, claim a free playable Servant.
The event Servant for 2024 is a new version of the Valkyrie, who first appeared in the 2nd Lostbelt scenario. Normally a collective entity that shares a consciousness, the summer Valkyries have separated into proper individuals and adopted the Assassin class. Players will choose one of the three "sisters" to add to their permanent roster. Depending on which Valkyrie they claim (between Thrud, Hildr, and Ortlinde), they'll also unlock a costume that that changes the Valkyrie into a different sister (between Rinder, Orlun, and Geirskogul).

For the premium summoning, the event will debut four new summer Servants, along with summer costumes for several existing characters, including Ashiya Douman, Asclepius, and Yan Qing.
On the first of three banners for 2024 are Lady Avalon, a 5-Star Pretender, and the 4-Star Saber-class Gareth. Lady Avalon is the third Pretender-class character in the game, and is based on a female version of the Servant Merlin, the wizard that trained King Arthur. She appeared in Fate/Grand Order Arcade as "Prototype Merlin," referencing the fact that she is the version of Merlin that appears in the universe of Fate/Prototype, an alternate timeline based on a pre-production concept of the original Fate/Stay Night that had a female protagonist and a male Arthur.

The second marquee Servant is a Berserker version of Ibuki-douji, who appeared as a Saber-class character in Fate/Grand Order's Lostbelt 5.5 story chapter. She's accompanied by a 4-Star Avenger version of Utsumi Erice.
Finally, the third summer 2024 FGO banner will add a Ruler version of Skadi, another Lostbelt No. 2 Servant, accompanied by a 4-Star Caster version of Wu Zetian.
