Utawarerumono Zan comes to Steam next year
Today, Shiravune has revealed that Utawarerumono Zan will launch on Steam in 2025. The action spinoff of the Utawarerumono series originally released for PlayStation 4 in 2018.
While I thought that Utawarerumono Zan was merely ok when I reviewed the PlayStation 4 localization back in 2019, I must admit it's been at least a bit disappointing to see the game stuck on PlayStation 4, with so much of the rest of the series having made the jump to PC - until now, anyway.
Today's announcement also begs the question if the follow-up — Utawarerumono Zan 2 — might also eventually see a Steam release down the line; as it's one of a few entries in the franchise that has yet to be localized to English. Previously, the most recent Aquaplus title that Shiravune published on Steam was Dungeon Travelers: To Heart 2 in Another World; that game's sequels, Dungeon Travelers 2 and Dungeon Travelers 2-2, were barred from release on Steam, although both received PlayStation Vita releases.
Although today's announcement didn't go into specifics, Utawarerumono Zan's PC release will come with a number of "PC-specific optimizations and enhancements", and will include English, Japanese and Chinese language support. Utawarerumono Zan releases on Steam for PC sometime next year.
Shiravune is pleased to announce that Utawarerumono: Zan, a hack-and-slash take on the beloved franchise from the developers at Aquaplus, will be coming to PC on Steam.
This version is based on the original first released on the Playstation 4 in 2018 and will come with a number of PC-specific optimizations and enhancements. Release is currently planned for 2025.
