Nomura: New titles the priority ahead of a FF7 remake
The latest issue of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu features an interview with Final Fantasy figurehead Tetsuya Nomura to commemorate the anniversary of Final Fantasy VII - but despite the subject matter of the issue, Nomura was keen to pour cold water on talk of a remake of the landmark title in the series.
While admitting there's a lot of fan demand and desire for a remake of Final Fantasy VII, Nomura explained that the current mind-set within Square Enix was to push towards creating new titles.
He did then reassure that the intention was to make these new titles match up to or better Final Fantasy VII in terms of quality.
He also told the magazine that he sees Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XIII-2 Producer Yoshinori Kitase as the 'true successor' to the Final Fantasy series with series creator Hironobu Sakaguchi now working on his own projects at Mistwalker.
Thanks, andriasang.
