Path of Exile 2 enters Early Access on November 15

Developer Grinding Gear Games announced during the Gamescom 2024 Opening Night Live broadcast that its isometric action RPG Path of Exile 2 will be playable via Early Access starting on November 15, 2024. The game is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, though it doesn't have a formal release date.

Grinding Gear Games debuted a cinematic announcement trailer for Path of Exile 2 to accompany the news.

Path of Exile 2 Early Access Announcement Trailer

Originally announced for release back in 2020, Path of Exile 2 is a sequel to Path of Exile, and retains the original's extensive skill tree and the dungeon-crawling action RPG combat that put it in competition with Blizzard's Diablo series.

Path of Exile 2 will feature a new, six-act narrative campaign, over 100 environments, and hundreds of monsters and bosses to defeat. Players will be able to master twelve character classes, with a total of 36 Ascendancy Classes to pick between as a form of further specialization. The new game will also add a Skill Gem system that allows players to add powerful active skills to their build, as well as use Support Gems that modify Skill Gems' behavior.

Like its predecessor, Path of Exile 2 will be free-to-play, supported by microtransactions. Grinding Gear Games didn't specify what sort of microtransactions will be offered in POE 2, but according to its Steam page, purchases will be shared between the two games. The current game offers visual customizations, as well as account enhancements like item stash expansions and extra character slots.

Path of Exile 2 is in development, and enters Early Access on PC on November 15, 2024.
