New screenshots for Showa American Story reveal Gokou, the Governor of Texas
In a new update revealed by IGN, publisher 2P Games and developer Nekcom have released new screenshots for Showa American Story.
Showa American Story was originally revealed in January 2022 set in a post-apocalyptic '80s/'90s United States that has become a colony of Japan, influenced by American B-movies and Japanese pop-culture. You play as Chouko, a teenage stuntwoman revived from the dead. Since the game's announcement, however, updates of the game had been sparse.
Speaking with IGN, creative director XY.Luo revealed Gokou, a boss character that players will face. "Gokou is a character who is a mix of an American cowboy and a Japanese samurai.", says Luo. "He’s not the final boss or the overarching villain, but in our alternate history, Gokou is the Governor of Texas, and it was him who sold the land of Texas to Japan".
Other screenshots were shared, showing improvements in visual fidelity as the game has switched from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5, which can be found in the gallery below. We've also included screenshots that were released on the game's Steam page at the end of 2023.
Showa American Story is set to release for PlayStation 5 and PC (Steam). The release date is still TBD.
