Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii boards the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on February 28, 2025 starring Majima as the main character
RGG Studio and Sega have unveiled the next new entry in the Like A Dragon series with a spin-off starring Goro Majima as a pirate titled Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. It is releasing on February 28, 2025 simultaneously worldwide for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC (Steam).
Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii will not be a turn-based RPG, such as Yakuza: Like A Dragon and Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth. It will return to the series' staple beat 'em up genre with action RPG progression systems, like older Yakuza entries and the most recent Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.
Goro Majima finds himself on a remote island at the beginning of Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii and he can't remember his own name. To recover his lost memories, he sets sail on the high seas as a pirate with a mysterious boy named Noah. His time as a pirate has him intertwine with other modern-day pirates, criminals, and other threats.
As players experience Majima's new solo adventure, they can assemble his crew and upgrade his ship. Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii will have real-time cannon battles against other ships. Outside of ship combat, Majima has access to two fighting styles: the Mad Dog and Sea Dog.
Mad Dog utilizes Majima's trademark fighting style as he's armed with his trusty knife. He'll be able to summon shadow clones and utilize his agility to make quick work of foes. For the first time in the Like A Dragon series, players will be able to jump in combat and the Mad Dog style has access to moves that launch enemies in the air, in which Majima can follow them and continue his combo in the air.
Sea Dog taps into Majima's new capabilities as a pirate as he dual-wields two short swords, along with a variety of sidearms at his disposal from a flintlock pistol, a blunderbuss, dynamite, and more.
Of course, there will also be a variety of minigames for players to indulge in, as well. Some of the revealed minigames include Crazy Delivery, Dragon Kart, and Karaoke.
