Stellar Blade to receive NieR: Automata crossover DLC, photo mode update

When promoting its action RPG Stellar Blade Developer Shift Up wasn't shy about citing NieR: Automata as a major inspiration. Soon, android EVE will meet her mentor, in the form of newly-announced Stellar Blade x NieR Automata crossover DLC. The announcement came courtesy of the latest PlayStation State of Play broadcast. Sony uploaded a trailer previewing the crossover, as well as a few other updates for the game.

Stellar Blade x NieR: Automata crossover trailer

The trailer begins with a preview of the upcoming Stellar Blade photo mode update. Photo mode will allow players to stage photos in-game with EVE and other characters, with a selection of options, frames, and poses that expand EVE's range of expression far beyond anything she displays in the game itself. The trailer also notes that the Stellar Blade soundtrack has arrived on various music streaming services.

Regarding the NieR: Automata crossover, the trailer teases what looks like a YoRHa No. 2 Type B costume for EVE, and a Pod costume for the drone. It doesn't mention a release date outside of later in 2024, or whether the crossover DLC will contain content more substantial than the cosmetics. This isn't the first time 2B, the queen of collaborations, has visited a Shift Up game. In 2023 Goddess of Victory: NIKKE hosted a lengthy NieR: Automata crossover event that added 2B, A2, and Pascal as playable characters.
