HoYoVerse teases Xilonen ahead of Genshin Impact 5.1 in a new series of trailers

In a new series of teaser trailers released just before the launch of the upcoming Genshin Impact version 5.1 update, developer HoYoVerse detailed more about Xilonen, the game's newest playable character. The trailers shed more light on Xilonen's personality and character, as well as how she actually plays as the game's next 5-Star character.

Xilonen is from Natlan, and will play a major role in the continuation of the Archon Quest upon her debut in Genshin Impact version 5.1. Picking up where the 5.0 main story left off, Xilonen will need to forge an "Ancient Name" for the Traveler, the better to let her help resolve the crisis facing the unusual nation and Mavuika, the Pyro Archon.

Xilonen is also a new Geo-element Sword-wielding character and a sometime DJ, both traits of which are displayed in her character trailer and a Collected Miscellany reveal feature.

Like the other Natlan characters released so far, Kachina and Mualani, Xilonen has access to a unique mobility-enhancing talent that's particularly useful when navigating Natlan's extreme geography. When using her Elemental Skill, she dons a pair of Geo roller blades and can skate around at speed and directly up cliffs. This "Blade Roller" mode also enhances her basic attacks and allows her to decrease the elemental resistance of foes based on her team's elemental makeup using an "Elemental Sampler." The samples she collects in battle also enhance her attacks and decrease enemy resistance even while she's off the field. Her Elemental Burst deals wide-area Geo damage as well as healing the team passively.

Xilonen's Genshin Impact Wish banner will launch alongside version 5.1 on October 9, 2024. Players summoning on the banner also have a chance to summon the 4-Star Sumeru characters Dori, Candace, or Collei. Players not interested in Xilonen can also try summoning for Chiori, who appears on a separate Character Event Wish banner (with the same 4-Stars). Chiori also happens to be a Geo-element sword-wielder, though she hails from Inazuma.

Genshin Impact is available on PC, PS4, PS5, iOS, and Android. The game will also launch on Xbox Series X|S on November 20, 2024.
