Nintendo Q2FY2025 Results: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom sells 2.58 million units
Nintendo has released its quarterly financials [PDF] for Q2 of the 2025 fiscal year, giving us some incremental sales updates for Nintendo RPGs.
For the genre-focus of this website, the main topic is the Switch release of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, which shipped 2.58 million units in the quarter (as of September 30). It's worth noting that Echoes of Wisdom released on September 26, so those numbers include pre-orders and just a few days on sale.
As a point of comparison, the 2019 Link's Awakening remake shipped 3.13 million units in its first quarter of sale, having been released on September 20, 2019.
Other incremental RPG-related sales updates are as follows:
- Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (Switch) has sold 1.94 million units since launch [up from 1.76 last quarter]
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has sold 32.29 million units since launch [up from 32.05 last quarter]
- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has sold 21.04 million units since launch [up from 20.80 last quarter]
- Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield have sold 26.44 million units since launch [up from 26.35 last quarter]
- Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet have sold 25.69 million units since launch [up from 25.29 last quarter]
As far as upcoming RPG-related releases go, in Q3 we'll see the release of Mario & Luigi: Brothership, and at the end of Q4 we'll see Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition.
