XSEED Games and Marvelous announce Sakuna Chronicles: Kokorowa and the Gears of Creation
XSEED Games and Marvelous Europe have announced Sakuna Chronicles: Kokorowa and the Gears of Creation, a console game spin-off of 2020's Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin featuring Kokorowa, the inventor goddess.
As of the time of writing, we don't have any further details about Sakuna Chronicles, including release timing, platforms, or frankly what genre we can expect. This is actually a little bit of a hassle for us at RPG Site, a site for role-playing games, since we can't be certain if it fits our genre scope or not. RPG Site has fans of the original sidescroller RPG, however, landing in our top ten for 2020, so we're interested in the new spinoff regardless.
The game features the titular Kokorowa, the inventor goddess, who in the teaser trailer below meets an automaton with free will named Takebina. We also see other new characters, as well as more automaton creations. Perhaps this spinoff is some sort of tower defense game, or some sort of builder game, but for now we'll have to wait for more information.
In addition to the new console game, Edelweiss also announced a new mobile project developed by TOHO games, as well as a sequel to the anime that aired earlier this year.

XSEED Games, the independent-minded publishing brand of Marvelous USA, Inc., today confirmed that the company will publish Sakuna Chronicles: Kokorowa and the Gears of Creation, in North America. Currently in development by Edelweiss, developers of the smash-hit indie action-platformer and rice-farming sim Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin, the title is the first entry in an expanding Sakuna franchise. The game will tell a spin-off story focused on the brilliant Princess Kokorowa, Sakuna’s close friend, who is a high-ranking goddess presiding over wheels and inventions from her heavenly home.
