Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake: How to change your appearance

If you just began your journey in Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake and have formed your party, you likely are wondering if you can change your appearance or edit how your party members look. While there are restrictions, you do unlock the ability to edit appearances for your party members after reaching a specific point in the game and this guide will cover what you need to know.

Where can you change your appearance in Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake?

Once you've reached Alltrades Abby (use our walkthrough if you need help), you can talk to Healizah who is an NPC on the right as shown by my location in the map below. Healizah will help you change appearances, hair color, and voice for your companions. Doing so will cost 100 gold coins.

Can you change your appearance in Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake?

You unfortunately cannot change your own appearance the same way you change your party members' appearances. If you try to do this by talking to Healizah, they say: "I really wouldn't change a thing if I were you..." You can only change your companions' appearances, hair color, and voice. You can change your own name the  same way though. You can unlock the ability to change your own hair color in the postgame as detailed in our guide, but be warned for spoilers.

Talk to Healizah and select your companion. Once chosen, select the appearance you want for them followed by the hair color. The final choice is the voice. You don't need to change all of these though, but changing any or all of those will cost 100 gold coins for each edit when you to talk to Healizah.
