Girls' Frontline 2: Exilium Release Trailer

As a direct sequel to Girls' Frontline, Exilium takes place years after the latest point in GFL's story. The player commander has parted ways with most of the original cast and become a bounty hunter in the wasteland, until a strange mission thrusts them back into the spotlight of world affairs, leading them to reconnect with old allies and find new ones.

The trailer features Exilium's new 3D graphical style. All characters are rendered in 3D, with a 3D weapon customization system based in the player's command vehicle. Costumes will also be sold via an outfit boutique. Exilium will add new characters via a gacha system similar to contemporary free-to-play RPGs like Honkai: Star Rail and Genshin Impact. The original Girls' Frontline used its gacha system for cosmetic outfits and dorm furniture, with most new characters obtainable via an "manufacturing system" that used in-game resources.

Players can also interact with the characters in the dorm. While the original game's combat system resembled an auto-scrolling strategy title, Exilium has adopted a turn-based grid combat system reminiscent of the XCOM games. Many characters from Girls' Frontline are also present, though they mostly use personal names now, instead of being named after their weapon.

Sunborn also debuted promotional videos for the returning GFL character Suomi and Ullrid, a new character that uses a sword and bow rather than a gun.
