WILD Tactics debuts its gameplay featuring turn-based tactics with a squad full of anthropomorphic animals
Joystick Ventures and The Wild Gentlemen pulled back the curtain on a new look at turn-based tactical RPG WILD Tactics. First announced back in June, they have now given a first look at its gameplay which debuted at the PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted 2024 stream event.
The new trailer for WILD Tactics introduces some of the different playable anthromorphic animals that will make up a player's squad and how they all serve a specific role in combat. Blackjack, for instance, is a ram that excels in a straightforward, brute force approach, while the foxy Kiorra opts for a more stealthy indirect approach to quietly take out foes.
WILD Tactics will feature a total of 12 different characters and thus, 12 different playstyles that players can choose between. The title is set to release on PC via Steam and "further platforms to be announced at a later date", though no release date has been announced yet.

WILD Tactics, the turn-based strategy game set in the World of Wilderness popularized by Chicken Police from developer The Wild Gentlemen and publisher Joystick Ventures coming to PC via Steam, uncovers unsolved cases of combat in the debut gameplay trailer revealed today at PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted.
Crime is rampant, danger is everywhere, and only the wildest squad in the Wilderness can save the city. WILD Tactics combines the sharp strategy of XCOM with a gritty urban twist, challenging players to outsmart and outmaneuver their enemies. Form a misfit band of anthropomorphic ex-soldiers, ex-police, ex-criminals, and more to combat crime from a new angle. Comb through seedy city streets as a tight unit of eccentric outsiders to discover truths leading to a larger threat looming over the Wilderness — the metropolitan megacity set in the Chicken Police universe.
Engage in intense, turn-based combat where strategy outshines brute force. Every character brings unique tools and skills to the table — like Blackjack’s powerful sawed-off shotgun, ‘Restless Marie’, or Kiorra’s dual pistols, capable of targeting multiple enemies at once. Build your base, explore each character’s unique utility belt, upgrade your gear, and deploy your squad to outthink and outmaneuver the enemy at every turn.
"The first gameplay trailer shows an early pre-alpha state of the game, so it will change a lot, but as you can tell it's going to be a very dynamic, colourful and vibrant experience," said Bánk Varga of The Wild Gentlemen. "We wanted to show off a completely different side of Chicken Police's World of Wilderness, and with 12 wild animal characters with completely unique personalities and abilities — we're confident we hit our mark."
