Monster Hunter Wilds PS5 and Xbox frame rate and resolution targets revealed, PS5 Pro support coming in day one patch
During the Monster Hunter Wilds Pre-Launch Community Update video, Capcom revealed the resolution and frame rate targets for consoles. Monster Hunter Wilds PlayStation 5 Pro support has also been confirmed to arrive with the day one patch.
The update video focused on how Monster Hunter Wilds' newer build has improved from the open beta test. Slides showcased during this update video confirmed that the final build on consoles will support FSR upscaling while the open beta test only used checkerboard rendering. For PlayStation 5 Pro support, Capcom has mentioned more details will be revealed in the future with no hard numbers like with the other consoles. The images below are captures from the livestream and not direct feed images.
Beyond technical details, Capcom confirmed some weapon changes like Vaulting Dance returning for Insect Glaive, a buff to True Charged Slash, and also adjustments for hitstop/sound effects across the board with a Great Sword example shown in a short video. Lance on the other hand has seen adjustments to Charge Counter and Power Guard. Both Perfect Guard and Power Guard can now be chained into a new move as well.
On the Switch Axe side, Capcom is tweaking it to feel more satisfying when switching to the Sword Mode after building the Axe Mode. Full Release Slash with Switch Axe has knockback negated. Moving to Sword & Shield, Rising Slash can be used while guarding with more changes coming to evasion, responsiveness, and parameter improvements to specific attacks.
Outside the weapons covered so far, the others have seen adjustments, but to a smaller scale. These include changes to Bow targeting when using Focus Strike and rebalancing the attacks. Monster movement between areas is also being adjusted to feel similar to Monster Hunter World.
