Assassin’s Creed Shadows is now Steam Deck Verified ahead of launch, first soundtrack album available

Ahead of its launch on March 20, Ubisoft has just announced that Assassin's Creed Shadows is Steam Deck Verified. The first soundtrack album is also now available to stream on various services.

Last month, Ubisoft posted a technical Q&A about Assassin's Creed Shadows that mentioned the game would not be compatible with Steam Deck at launch because it was below the minimum specs for the game on PC. Today, Ubisoft has announced that Assassin's Creed Shadows is Steam Deck Verified in a new trailer and blog post for the PC version. This is very surprising to see, and I will definitely be taking a look at the Steam release when I can. Watch the new Assassin's Creed Shadows Steam trailer below:

In addition to it being Steam Deck Verified today, Ubisoft has launched the first album of the Assassin's Creed Shadows Original Game Soundtrack composed by The Flight. There will be two other albums released after the game launches. You can listen to the first full soundtrack album here. The full Assassin’s Creed Shadows soundtrack release details and the first music video are below via Ubisoft:

Today, Ubisoft announces the immediate release of the first album of Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ Original Game Soundtrack. Composed by The Flight, this first album is now available worldwide on most music platforms. Two other music albums composed by Teke::Teke and Thunderdrum feat. Tiggs Da Author will be available after the launch of Assassin’s Creed Shadows on March 20th.

The music duo The Flight, made up of Joe Henson and Alexis Smith, who previously worked on Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, are returning to compose the original score music for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Blending the authenticity of traditional Japanese instruments with modern music techniques throughout the album, they worked closely with the teams at Ubisoft to create a grand musical landscape for the game’s setting, and the characters’ stories. For instance, “Steel and Shadows”, an action rendition of Naoe’s theme featuring the Tsuchibue, Koto, Taiko and the voice of Akari MOCHIZUKI, provides an epic backdrop for her noble aspirations and inner conflict, as she must decide her path forward.

“Feudal Japan—a long-awaited setting for Assassin’s Creed fans—finally comes to life in Shadows, and we eagerly embraced the opportunity to re-enter the Animus and collaborate with Ubisoft Quebec. Our score follows the journeys of Naoe and Yasuke, blending the series’ sci-fi roots with influences of traditional Japanese music, featuring instruments such as Koto, Shamisen, Taikos, and Shakuhachi to create a unique and forward-looking sound. This project was an epic undertaking, and we poured our hearts into every step—from the earliest thematic sketches to the final orchestral sessions—hoping fans will enjoy the music as much as we loved creating it.” said Alexis Smith and Joe Henson.
