Digimon Story: Time Stranger details revealed at Digimon Con 2025

New details for Digimon Story: Time Stranger have appeared at the Digimon Con 2025 program. The game's producer Ryosuke Hara attended the event to represent the development team in providing the new information.

The game's section covered the general summary of the key gameplay features, along with the main characters and Digimon that will appear in the storyline. Producer Hara added that while some of Time Stranger's elements will be inherited from the preceding Cyber Sleuth sub-series, the new game will have a much larger volume in overall.

You can find our summary of the reveals for Digimon Story: Time Stranger after the direct-feed Digimon Special Moves trailer right below. The new turn-based RPG will be available worldwide on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam in 2025.

Key Feature Points

  • Time Stranger will have several same key staff members from Cyber Sleuth sub-series: Suzuhito Yasuda as the character designer, Oh! great as the boss designer, and Masafumi Takada as the music composer.
  • While Cyber Sleuth had various areas across Tokyo depicted on a smaller scale, Time Stranger will have a closer focus on more detailed large-scale depictions of the Shinjuku and Akihabara areas.
  • The game's digital world will be specifically known as Digital World: Iliad. The player can more frequently visit the Digimon's living world compared to Cyber Sleuth.
  • The battle encounter system will use approachable enemy symbols.
  • In a new high record for the whole Digimon Story sub-series, over 450 Digimon species will be available to collect and train.

Story Synopsis

The story begins in Tokyo, Japan. The protagonist is an agent of ADAMAS, a secret organization that specializes in investigating and solving anomalous phenomena.

In the course of their investigation, they encounter an unknown creature called a "Digimon" in Shinjuku, an area sealed off by the government, and are caught up in a mysterious explosion. They then awaken eight years in the past...

Key Characters and Digimon

The protagonists in Time Stranger shall now be known by the default names Dan and Kanan Yuki. Unlike Cyber Sleuth, the character not chosen by the player will still appear in the story as an operator.

As indicated in the key visual, Gomamon (Vaccine type), Patamon (Data type), and DemiDevimon (Virus type) will be the 3 starter Digimon available to choose from at the beginning of this game.

Inori Misono will appear as the main heroine in Time Stranger's storyline. She will also accompany the chosen protagonist and bring a partner Digimon along the way.

The fantasy-styled boy who appeared in the reveal trailer turned out to be a Digimon named Aegiomon, and he will also appear as Inori's partner Digimon. He can also join battles in the fourth extra slot outside of the player's three-Digimon party.

The Olympos XII Digimon group will play key roles in Time Stranger's storyline in a similar way the Royal Knights did in Cyber Sleuth. The Digimon shown from the top left are Ceresmon, Junomon, Jupitermon, Neptunemon, Minervamon, Vulcanusmon, Marsmon, Apollomon, Bacchusmon, Dianamon, Venusmon, and Mercurymon. As another side fun fact, Apollomon and Dianamon were the final canon digivolutions of Coronamon and Lunamon, the mascots of Digimon Story: Dawn and Dusk (a.k.a. Sunburst and Moonlight in Japanese release).

And last but not least, this is the mysterious enemy boss designed by Oh! great, who previously worked on the Eaters in the Cyber Sleuth sub-series.
