Dragon Age III: Inquisition Announced
EA and Bioware have confirmed a third entry in the Dragon Age series titled Dragon Age III: Inquisition.
The title will launch in late 2013 - though platforms remain unknown. Given the next generation of consoles are on the horizon, this could well be current or next generation - or both.
Bioware also announced that the game is to use DICE's Frostbite 2 engine, most recently used to power Battlefield 3. The engine's bloody good looking, so that bodes well. Bioware recently collaborated with Bioware on the sound design of Mass Effect 3's weapons.
The new engine allows Bioware to "deliver a more expansive world, better visuals, more reactivity to player choices, and more customization," Executive Producer Mark Darrah writes in an open letter to the series' fanbase.
Bioware are keen to prove to fans that lessons have been learned from the reaction to parts of Dragon Age II.
The confirmation comes after several months where the developer has been quite open about the game being in production, openly hiring for it and talking about plans for the future of the series at fan events.
