Nippon Ichi details Disgaea Dimension 2
This week's Dengeki PlayStation has even more details on the newly announced Disgaea D2 from Nippon Ichi.
Shogo Kozakai, producer of the game, explains that D2 is a continuation of the first Disgaea and takes place a few years after the original's good ending. Laharl, Etna and Flonne, along with old and new characters will also be introduced in the story. At first the team considered remaking the first game, but decided to move ahead with an all new entry.
As for gameplay, Disgaea D2's systems will be pulled from Disgaea: Hour of Darkness and Disgaea 4. Many fans thought Disgaea 4 was somewhat complicated, so D2 will be balanced closer to the first game.
Kozaki says he hopes to improve the story and add even more new elements which have yet to be revealed. For example, monsters might be useable as mounts in the new game.
Disgaea D2 is likely not the end of the Dimension series either. Kozaki says he hopes to continue it further, and also confirms that Disgaea 5 is still in the works.
Disgaea D2 is set to release on March 20, 2013 in Japan on PlayStation 3.
