Square-Enix + NHN Japan = Concerto Gate
Square-Enix has teamed up with NHN Japan and has announced that a new MMORPG named Concerto Gate is being developed. It is believed that Concerto Gate is a sequel to Cross Gate, a popular MMORPG. The game was originally produced by Enix and in 2001, before Square-Soft merged with Enix, Cross Gate became famous in China and Taiwan with more than 23 million registered users.
NHN Japan will be administrating Concerto Gate, unlike Cross Gate which was managed by Enix. It has also been reported that users won't pay fixed monthly fees, instead, NHN Japan has chosen to use the pay-per-item system.
Furthermore, the graphics will be in 3D and Concerto Gate will offer a job and skill system and the enemy encounters will be random and symbol-based. Square-Enix has said that the environments may change under certain conditions which will affect the types of items a player can collect.
Those who are interested can sign up for the first closed beta test today. 10,000 beta testers will be selected and the first closed beta test is scheduled to begin on February 26th. The second closed beta test will take place in mid-March and an open beta test will follow in April. The commercial launch for Concerto Gate is set for May.
