Tetsuya Nomura shares some details on Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts 3
Noumra made an appearance on Square Enix's first day of livestreaming from their booth, and he answered several questions to shed a little light on each of these titles.
Final Fantasy XV
- Noctis may seem 'cool', but he is not actually 'cool' but rather - quirky.
- Current gen versions were in development as well, but the project was shifted purely to next-gen about a year ago due to the scale and quality Nomura wants to have.
- He sees Final Fantasy XV as - what Final Fantasy would be if it took a more action oriented approach.
- However, he notes it is still a Final Fantasy game at heart, noting the party members and RPG elements like commands.
- Notes that Noctis uses teleportation abilities in battles, and makes a general comment that games allow him to bend the rules of gravity to create a unique playstyle
- He notes that using Direct X11 tools make the game very easy to port to the various consoles without loss of quality.
Kingdom Hearts III
- Promises surprises on which Disney worlds will be included.
- Indicates that he wants the gameplay to be mostly like Kingdom Hearts 2, with maybe a few modifications from 'spin-offs' like Birth By Sleep.
- Sora is the main character, but "it would be nice" if other characters could be played, including King Mickey.
- Looking into online possibilities, multiplayer under consideration.
- Summoning will be available, but Kingdom Hearts III will have a completely different system. Seems to hint it may not be limited to Disney mascots.
- Notes the new artstyle, and mentions that he wants to use graphicial effects to give each world a unique style.
