Borderlands: The Handsome Collection to bring the series to PS4 and Xbox One
2K Games and Gearbox Software have announced Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, a package that brings the two most recent entries in the Borderlands series to the current-generation consoles, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, in one neat package.
Developed by Armature Studios & Iron Galaxy Studios under the watchful eye of Gearbox, the collection packages in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, Borderlands 2, and all of the downloadable content that was made available for both games - which, based on the list over on the official Borderlands website, is a whole lot of content.
In addition to all the content fans will have already potentially seen, the collection brings two new major additions. Firstly, the game supports cross-save functionality so players can bring over their PS3, Vita or Xbox 360 saves so long as they're remaining in the same console family. More important, though, both games will now support four-player split-screen co-operative play locally for the very first time, allowing for a full party to all adventure on one TV screen if you wish. All the online functionality remains intact.
The game will land in North America on March 24th and in the rest of the world a few short days later on March 27th, and will retail for $59.99.
In addition to that basic version, 2K will be shipping a limited-run package titled the 'Claptrap-in-a-Box Edition' - which contains, as you might imagine, a collectable version of the series' de-facto mascot, Claptrap. Fully remote controlled, the Claptrap is controlled via an iOS or Android App, and features voice samples from the game and a real working camera hidden away in his 'eye', meaning you can navigate him around via your phone or tablet screen. Also included are 12 lithographs and a steelbook case for the game - but realistically, the Claptrap is the reason to buy it. That'll retail for $399.
We rather enjoyed Borderlands 2 and The Pre-Sequel both here on RPG Site, so we're looking forward to checking this out. We'll bring you a full review closer to launch.
