Story details and direct-feed screenshots for Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness
Square Enix has posted direct-feed screenshots for Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness, as well as quite a bit of information regarding the characters, setting, and battle system.
As revealed in Famitsu magazine last week, our main character is Fidel Camus, a 23 year old swordsman born in the village of Stahl. His longtime friend is Miki Sorvesta, an 18 year old user of healing magic. The game takes place on (or at least starts at) the planet Feikreed, said to be similar in civilization to 16th century Earth.
Magic users on this planet wield the 'Art of the Cursed Mark', a kind of magic that connects the user to the planet in order to wield fantastic ability. Seven years prior to the start of the game, cursed creatures appeared on Feikreed, poising a danger to the planet's inhabitants. The origin of these creatures is unknown, and this period has gotten the name: the 'Years of Darkness'.
Like in past Star Ocean titles, battle is done in a real-time party based system, and players can switch characters mid-combat. The transition from exploration to combat is said to be more seamless this time around. Ability effect will change depending on the distance to the enemy.
Event scenes are also said to be seamless with exploration, where cutscenes can even transition directly into a battle.
Check out the images in the gallery below, of course. Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithless is set to release on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.
