Yoru no Nai Kuni new direct-feed screenshots and story information
4Gamer has released a load of new screenshots and information regarding Gust's new action RPG, Yoru no Nai Kuni (A Land Without Night), for the Playstation 4, Playstation 3, and Playstation Vita.
The story starts with the tale of how mankind prevailed against a monster known as the Ruler of the Night. Before the monster fell, it scattered its tainted blood to sow the seeds of evil around it. Thus, all that came in contact with its cursed blood transformed into the Jayou, beings that stole the night away from humans.
Now, people only come out during the day and have surrendered the night to the nefarious Jayou. Therefore, the land has been referred to as the "Land Without Night."
Covered in the Ruler of the Night's blood, a girl cursed with vampirism, a "Bloodsucker", devotes her life to those living in the Land Without Night and battles for the chosen girl who was to become the night's sacrifice.
The Land Without Night. A body of land that does not appear on any maps.
This is the story of a love between two girls scattered in the hidden crevasses of an untold history. A story of true love that is more tragic, and more beautiful, than the moon itself.
The two main heroines of Yoru no Nai Kuni are:
Arnas (CV: MAO): A holy knight that made contact with the blood of the Ruler of the Night. Now afflicted with vampirism, Arnas fights with a demonic blade created from her own blood. A powerful passion can be found beyond her quiet and calm composure.
Lyuritis (CV: Hiromi Igarashi): The chosen saint destined to seal off the Ruler of the Night in exchange for her life. Attending the same boarding school at a young age, Lyuritis is a close friend of Arnas. She has already accepted her fate as the chosen saint. "Lulu" is her nickname.
Yoru no Nai Kuni's story begins when Arnas is sent to Rusewall Island, in which she happily reunites with Lyuritis.
Unfortunately their newfound happiness does not last long because a holy knight and saint's encounter is no coincidence. Arnas must ultimately decide to protect the life of her best friend or sacrifice Lyuritis to the Ruler of the Night for the sake of everyone living on Rusewall Island. With contradicting goals, the two girls head forth into battle against the Jayou.
In order to prevail against the plethora of Jayou, players must make use of Servans, demons that can be contracted to fight for Arnas with items called "Yorishiro."
There are many types of Servans, but only two have been detailed so far.
Attackers: Servans who continuously attack the enemy.
Supporters: Servans who focus on recovering HP, healing status ailments, and applying status buffs to the battle party.
Yoru no Nai Kuni is coming out on August 27 in Japan for the Playstation 4, Playstation 3, and Playstation Vita.
