Pokemon Sun & Moon pirates receive bans from online play, eshop access

While many Pokemon fans are eagerly awaiting tomorrow's release of Pokemon Sun & Moon's  refreshingly different take on the 20 year old franchise, some people have been enjoying an early trip to the Alolan region, thanks in part to a large set of leaks from the game's demo as well as accessing the full game itself.

Nintendo seems to be cutting their vacations short.

Nintendo, in a reply back to Kotaku, had the following to say:

As a result of a number of Nintendo 3DS users using unauthorized versions of several games, and connecting to the official game servers in violation of our terms of service, these users’ Nintendo 3DS systems that stored the unauthorized game code have been banned from Nintendo’s online network effective immediately.

So it seems that those affected are primarily those that pirated the game early, and then decided to play the game online, a pretty (cu)bone-headed decision if you ask me.

Many of those caught in the ban lashed back out at Nintendo, having lost access to many of their digital titles and online functionality. Patient players waiting for the official release are just enjoying the schadenfreude.
