Atlus offers first details on Project Re Fantasy - a new RPG from Persona 3, 4 & 5's director
Atlus has revealed the very first teasing details about their new RPG title, an all-new game currently codenamed Project Re Fantasy.
Project Re Fantasy is coming from the key staff behind the recent entries in the Persona series including director Katsura Hasino, artist Shigenori Soejima and composer Shoji Meguro. The trio's new team is titled Studio Zero.
The big news is that after years of working on contemporary-setting RPGs in the Persona 3, 4 and 5 series' this will be a full-on fantasy RPG with an actual fantasy setting. In the pages of Famitsu this week (via Gematsu) the company offer a few visual hints as to the nature of the title - and in those images there are fantasy-armored soldiers, dragons, horse and carriage - all the sort of things you'd expect from a fantasy game, basically.
"Until now, since the time fantasy went mainstream, Atlus has dared to create series set in contemporary times and cherished its stance of aiming to counter the typical," Hasino told Famitsu. "The series works from Persona 3 an onwards are the exact products of such thought. I had always held the thought that I someday want to challenge the traditional genre and deliver a title uniquely Atlus."
It seems like the title is quite a way out and there's no real solid information beyond this, but it's clear this is a major project for Atlus. We eagerly await more information, and will bring it you when it lands.
