After last year's Tyranny, I wasn't really expecting to hear anything from Obsidian for a good while.
However, just yesterday Obsidian's "Project Lousiana" website went online with the following image:
The image is highly reminiscent of the Pillars of Eternity companion Edér, whose official portrait has a tuft of straw in his mouth, and his dialogue often referencing his devoutness to Eothas.
Day two of the Project Louisiana website offered the following image:
The text of "Leaden Key" is a direct reference to the Pillars of Eternity organization, of which the companion Aloth is a former member. Perhaps each day will align with a specific party member from the original game?
A self-reply to the original tease suggested that fans of the developer "Talk Amongst Yourselves", while linking to the Project Louisiana forums on Obsidian's website. It's there that one forum goer going by the name "Ethic Gradient" was able to datamine the countdown and timer for the Project LA website. He came up with the following image utilizing the countdown information:
With the help of a few Josh Sawyer (Obsidian Game Designer) Instagram Posts (1, 2, 3), one forum-goer was able to come up with the following translation:
"Deadfire"
A quick look-through of the Pillars Wiki will have one come across the Deadfire Archipelago, a series of volcanic island nations where indigenous sea creatures end up destroying any ship that tries to explore the area.
So is 2017 the year for Pillars of Eternity 2, and will it take place in the Deadfire Archipelago? Stay tuned as more is invariably revealed.
