Nioh's Sloth Talisman item completely breaks the game
Nioh has its share of very tough boss fights that become increasingly punishing as the game goes on. Nowhere is this more evident than with Hino-enma. She's incredibly aggressive in her constant onslaught of combos and ranged attacks, barely leaving you any time to attack and dodge. And she's only the second story mission boss in the game!
But thanks to the community, we may have discovered a way to make every boss encounter in Nioh a cake walk.
How the Sloth Talisman breaks every boss in the game
In order to unlock the Talisman: Sloth I, you will first need to:
- Open up the second region of the game.
- Complete the "The Ocean Roars Again" main story mission, followed by "The Way of Onmyo: Adept" tutorial mission.
- After finishing both, unlock Devigorate Talisman I and Lifeseal Talisman I in the Onmyo Magic skill tree (put 1-2 points into Magic if you don't have enough).
- Prepare the talisman at the shrine like with any other Onmyo skill.
Upon use, the talisman cuts your opponent's movement speed by about half.
With the Sloth Talisman, your entire fight with Hino-enma becomes incredibly trivial. Whether she's attacking you from close range or swooping down on you from above, it's almost as if she's moving in slow motion. And since you have 2 talismans at your disposal after initially unlocking the skill, that should give you more than enough time to dispatch of her quickly. Ishida Mitsunari is another boss made simple with this ability.
User FightinCowboy was able to capture the devastating effect this has on her in the video below. It's immediately evident how she is rendered completely vulnerable due to the effects of Sloth. As he notes in the video, it does seem a little odd this effects the bosses in the game because of how broken it is, so time will tell whether the developers will nerf this feature. In the meantime, you should jump on this right away.
