Yomawari: Midnight Shadows heading west this fall
I had the pleasure of reviewing Yomawari: Night Alone when it was released last year and had a great time with it. Sure, it had some issues, but for an original project, it exceeded expectations. Now one year later, NIS have announced they are developing a sequel called Yomawari: Midnight Shadows, and it will be heading to North America and Europe this fall for PlayStation Vita, Steam, and for the first time, PlayStation 4.
There doesn't appear to be any story connection to the original, so newcomers should be able to come into this completely fresh and still have a good time. According to details from the latest Dengeki PlayStation, the map will be twice the size of the original, with far more places to explore including the interiors of various buildings (not just your house like before).
Here's the synopsis shared by NIS America on the localization announcement:
The follow-up to 2016’s cult horror hit Yomawari: Night Alone, Yomawari: Midnight Shadows introduces two brand-new girls, Yui and Haru, to the night and the spirits who haunt it. Separated by a mysterious attacker, each girl will explore haunting and bizarre locations, face the terrors of the night, and test their courage and wits to survive and reconnect with one another.
Yomawari: Midnight Shadows will be released for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Steam this fall (it will be out in Japan on August 24). In the meantime, you can check out the teaser website.
