Dragon Quest XI sells over two million copies in two days in Japan
According to Famitsu (and translated by Gematsu), Dragon Quest XI has topped over two million copies sold in just two days. The numbers include physical copies, as well as download card purchases and the the Dragon Quest XI Double pack including both versions of the game, but not digitally downloaded copies. The breakdown is below:
3DS: 1,130,468 units sold
PS4: 950,338 units sold
What's surprising here is that the PS4 numbers, while below the 3DS, are still close to one million copies sold. Since the Dragon Quest series has been a mostly portable series for a while, and considering that the Japanese market tends to gravitate towards portable systems, the number is an interesting result.
Dragon Quest XI's two million sales mark it as the third best selling title of the series (for a two day period), trailing behind Dragon Quest IX and Dragon Quest VIII.
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age is set to release in North America and Europe in 2018.
