A new Fist of the North Star game is coming to PS4 from Yakuza Studio
Fist of the North Star fans rejoice! After we got Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage by another company in the last generation, we are wondering if there is going to be a new game based on the popular manga for current-gen consoles... and here we are! Sega's Yakuza Studio, headed by Toshihiro Nagoshi, has announced at the closing of today's Yakuza Studio live stream that they are making a collaboration game titled Hokuto ga Gotoku in Japan, which is mixed from the Japanese titles of Fist of the North Star (Hokuto no Ken) and Yakuza (Ryu ga Gotoku) respectively.
Hokuto ga Gotoku will take place in Fist of the North Star's universe and have appearances of series characters like Kenshiro, Shin, and Rei. However, it will instead feature a completely original story coined by Yakuza Studio.
As written on the Japanese official site, in the ruined post-apocalyptic world, there is still a city which miraculously is still thriving with abundant water and electricity, and the city is aptly named Eden. Kenshiro heard a rumor that his lover Yuria is currently living inside Eden city, but the citizens are very seclusive and would close the gates to outsiders including himself, so he will need to find a way to get into the city and be able to meet Yuria.
The game's genre will be Action Adventure, and it will have various gameplays from exploration adventures to battle actions that make use of pressure points. There will be also scenes never seen in any previous adaptations of Fist of the North Star, such as Kenshiro working as a bartender.
Hokuto ga Gotoku will be released for PlayStation 4 in Japan sometime in 2018. More information on the game will be announced at Tokyo Game Show next month on September 21-24. Until then, you can watch the reveal trailer and see some screenshots right below.
