Nintendo Announce DS Successor

It seems that 3D technology is the focal point of the entertainment industry of late; the logical progression from HD certainly is 3D, and now handheld consoles appear to be following suit.

Now, breathe a sigh of relief, because Nintendo have specifically stated that gamers will not be burdened with the need for "any special glasses" to appreciate the 3D capabilities of the aptly named 3DS (currently just a temporary name). No word yet of how the 3D technology will actually work, but Nintendo have promised backward compatibility with original DS games.

The 3DS may be coming sooner than you might think; Nintendo's announcement forecasts its release within their next fiscal year, which runs from this April until the end of March 2011, although the context of this statement indicates this will be after E3 in June.

Expect the 3DS to be one of the main attractions at E3 - and expect RPGSite to be there!
