Ys Origin is coming to Xbox One in Spring
Dotemu announced via their twitter page today that Ys Origin, the prequel to the Ys series that originally launched in Japan in 2006, is going to make its Xbox debut this Spring. Ys Origin was first brought westward by Xseed with its 2012 Steam release, alongside Dotemu's Playstation 4 and PS Vita release last year.
While it is, of course, exciting to see the classic series make its introduction to Xbox platforms, perhaps more interestingly is the context of Dotemu's port of the title. The studio announced alongside the Ys Origin Xbox port that the company is in the process of refocusing some of their development efforts including establishing a dedicated arm focused on "reviving retro franchises". This is the first project to roll out in 2018 within that initiative, so we're excited to see more from the speciality publisher in the coming months.
