The Greater Good is one man's love letter to classic RPGs due out October 23
An endeavor certainly not for the faint of heart, sole developer Sam Enright announced his modern take on the class turn-based RPG nearly three years in the making, The Greater Good, will be heading to Steam on October 23.
A love letter to the classic turn-based RPGs of the 90s, the game is touted with having all of the features you would expect from a project that claims to be as such: an epic story, optional superbosses, an explorable world map, multiple airships, a New Game Plus mode, and more. All of this is presented with stylized 3D graphics and an electric soundtrack to portray a unique mood.
The story is set in an age where "machines are on the rise while magic is all but forgotten. Few even remember the destruction of the Elemental Tree so many years ago. Team up with a band of unlikely heroes as you rediscover this world's past and fight to save its future."
Here is a quote from the one-man team Sam Enright who formerly worked as a small-scale music producer before breaking away to work on a game he's been slowly working on for the past decade:
I grew up watching my cousins play games like Chrono Trigger and after years of planning, decided to finally take the leap and work on my own. Three years later, here we are. I hope the game conjures up a sense of nostalgia while also delivering something new within the genre.
