Atlus 'Dissolved' By Parent Company as of today
Japanese niche experts Atlus have been 'dissolved' by its parent company Index Holdings today, an official announcement on the Index Holdings website says.
In the release, the company states that it's planning to refocus the business on "profitable core areas". It doesn't seem like this is the end of Atlus, though, as the indication from the Press Release is that the Atlus brand will continue to exist in some capacity, and ongoing projects such as Catherine are unlikely to be cancelled.
The director of Catherine commented on the announcement on the title's official blog, stating that the Catherine team would "endeavor to continue to work for a long time" and that "of course, it's not just the Persona team, it's also other teams working on titles" that will continue to work on unannounced projects.
Atlus USA have indicated both to ourselves and to Gamasutra that there'll be an official announcement from their side of things incoming shortly, so we'll be sure to stick with us for the latest on that!
