Square-Enix Announces New Online Payment System
With the release of Final Fantasy XIV: Online closing in, Square-Enix has sent details today, outlining their new payment system, which will be debuting with the MMORPG's PC launch.
PlayOnline is now gone, and in its place are Square-Enix accounts and their new currency called Crysta. Users will be able to purchase Crysta in order to pay for things such as monthly subscription fees, and security tokens.
Crysta will be available for purchase in increments of £5/€5/$5, £10/€10/$10, £20/€20/$20, £30/€30/$30, £50/€50/$50, £100/€100/$100 and can be had through credit/debit cards and even PayPal. The exchange rates for Square's currency will be as follows:
100 Crysta = £1 (UK only)
100 Crysta = €1 (rest of Europe)
100 Crysta = $1 (United States)
The amount of Crysta one can have in their account at any given time will be limited, and can only be used in the territory it was purchased from.
Square-Enix promises Crysta will be available for new service, titles, and territories later on, so look forward to those future announcements.
