Monster Hunter: World to have a new collaboration with The Witcher 3 in early 2019

Capcom has today revealed that Monster Hunter: World will have a new collaboration with CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. This marks the third major collaboration with a non-Capcom IP for the blockbuster hunting game after Guerrilla Games' Horizon Zero Dawn and Square Enix's Final Fantasy XIV.

The collaboration will see Geralt of Rivia, the protagonist of The Witcher series, visit the New World in the Monster Hunter universe after going through a portal. He will be voiced in all voice languages available in this game: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, and even the Monster Hunter language as well, and his original voice actors are reprising the role here.

There will also be "unique quests that inject the immersive RPG experience of The Witcher 3" into Monster Hunter: World when this collaboration goes live first on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in early 2019 (with the PC version getting it at a later date).

Other than this collaboration, Ryozo Tsujimoto has also announced in the Special Developer Update stream that the base game will have more time-limited events that pit you against souped-up elder dragons such as Arch-tempered Kulve Taroth and Arch-tempered Nergigante. Capcom also even revealed that they are now working on a major expansion for the game, called Monster Hunter: World - Iceborne.

You can read more information about this collaboration with a press release from CD Projekt Red, available after the official trailer below.

The collaboration sees Monster Hunter: World players take on the mantle of Geralt of Rivia — a professional monster slayer equipped with superhuman strength and reflexes — and has them take on a series of Witcher-inspired quests. These offer a unique gameplay experience blending RPG mechanics of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt with Monster Hunter: World’s game systems.

Geralt is a master swordsman considered one of the deadliest warriors in the world of The Witcher. Monster Hunter: World players get to utilize his signature fighting style, seamlessly blending swordplay, combat magic, and an assortment of monster hunting equipment.

Reprising his role as the White Wolf in the English version of Monster Hunter: World is Doug Cockle — the English voice of Geralt of Rivia throughout The Witcher series of games.

The Witcher-inspired content is coming to Monster Hunter: World on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in early 2019 as a free title update, with the PC release to follow soon. More details regarding the collaboration will be revealed at a later date.
