Sterkenburg Cranach is confirmed returning in Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland
After previously revealing Rorolina "Rorona" Fryxell, Koei Tecmo's Gust has today posted new information for Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland, the upcoming fourth title in the Arland sub-series of the long-running Atelier RPG series. One of the popular male characters from the series, Sterkenburg "Sterk" Cranach, is confirmed to make an appearance in the game.
Other than Sterk, this batch also introduces a couple of new characters as well as new features in the Synthesis system.
Characters
Sterkenburg "Sterk" Cranach (voiced by Jurota Kosugi)
A man who used to work as a knight in the Kingdom of Arland. He now works as the leader of a security group that oversees safety in the entire region of Arland, so he frequently moves around each location.
A straight-laced and serious person, he has a strong desire to regulate himself. However, he has a heated passion deep inside his heart, and sometimes he lets that expression show out.
Mana (voiced by Yui Kondo)
A girl who, all of a sudden, frequently visits the Arculis nursery school. Basically, she is simple-minded and likes pranks; suitable for girls of her age. However, she has a unique way of speaking as she says words that have a deep meaning.
Stia (voiced by Rie Kugimiya)
A girl who is graceful in both manners of speaking and dressing. At first glance, she looks like coming from a good family. She couldn't really feel the subtlety in people's feelings, and she is doing things that she thinks is right, but often times she ends up falls down. She meets Lulua at an unexpected place.
Synthesis System
As reported previously, the synthesis system in Atelier Lulua will be more closely based on the previous Arland series titles. Lulua can learn new recipes by solving the Alchemy Riddle or obtaining other reference books throughout the story. In addition to returning features such as item quality and traits, there will be a couple of new features in this system.
The first of which is Alchemy Composition, where a material gets four new composition stats of Fire, Ice, Thunder, and Earth. Lulua can easily create items by simply selecting materials. But depending on the material's composition, the end result will have some differences in strengths and effects, which include but are not limited to elemental effects.
Once Lulua has grown up into an alchemist, she will be able to use a Boost Item during a synthesis process. This is a special type of item that can do things like drastically changing the alchemy compositions or greatly increasing the item quality, allowing her to produce items with strengths and effects that wouldn't be possible with just using materials on her hands.
Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland will be released for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch first in Japan on March 20. The English localization, which also adds a PC Steam release, will be coming later in Spring 2019.
