SD Gundam G Generation Cross Rays coming to PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC Steam in Asia in 2019

Bandai Namco Entertainment has today revealed SD Gundam G Generation Cross Rays, set to release in Japan and Asia in 2019 for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. This is a strategy game featuring chibi-fied adaptations of Gundam mobile suits, and it is also the first G Generation console game to be brought to Steam - the second Gundam console game overall after last year's New Gundam Breaker.

This is the newest title in the long-running SD Gundam G Generation series, which has a grid-mapped turn-based strategy RPG gameplay system in the same vein as the Super Robot Wars and Front Mission series. Players can build their own squadrons by hiring pilots -both game originals and from the featured titles-, constructing and upgrading mobile suits (combat mechs that can be piloted), and managing the crew of carrier warships.

Squads can then be deployed to story stages, which are usually re-enactments of episodes from the featured Gundam titles, where they can either destroy enemies to gain levels and grow stronger or even capture certain enemy mobile suits to be added to the fleet's roster.

Cross Rays will exclusively feature four alternate universes: Gundam Wing's After Colony, Gundam SEED's Cosmic Era, Gundam 00's Anno Domini, and Iron-Blooded Orphans' Post Disaster. However, it will also add more manga side-stories that take place in those universes.

The full list of featured titles below may look somewhat overwhelming, but keep in mind that the bolded titles are the ones that will also have story stages in this game, while the rest will only contribute pilots and mobile suits to the game's roster.

SD Gundam G Generation Cross Rays will be released for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam in 2019 for Japan and the rest of Asia. An English localization is also confirmed for the Southeast Asian countries of Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines.
