The Witcher 2 Preorder Trailer and Details
The Witcher just so happens to be one of my favorite modern RPGs that the West has been able to muster this decade. So, imagine my delight when I woke up this morning and received a message that CD Projekt RED, the developers behind the upcoming The Witcher 2, has put out the pre-order trailer for their game. Sure, it may not be released until next May, but at least we can take a look at some real gameplay footage
Earlier in the middle of November, CD Projekt also revealed in a press conference what the pre-order bonuses of Witcher 2 will contain, including information about the ever-lovable Limited Editions. There will be a Retail Premium Edition which will include a bonus "Making of" DVD, soundtrack, manual, game guide, map, a pamphlet representation of an in-game item, a coin, and two papercraft sheets. This version will retail for $49.95, £34.95 or €49,95. A Digital Premium Edition will contain all of the above save for the coin, with the papercraft sheets being printable online.
For you extra spenders, there will be a Collector's Edition will come in a large container that includes everything from the Premium Edition, along with a DLC Jacket that boosts Geralt's sword-fighting techniques, a sculpture of Geralt's head, a 200-page hardcover artbook that will contain some pretty glossy pages, a set of three stickers, and a deck of Witcher 2-themed playing cards. This version will only be sold through GameStop and Amazon, and is expected to retail in the U.S. for $129.95. Other retailers will have the usual DLC exclusives to entice players to buy new.
As far as digital distributors are concerned, Steam is expected to have a 10% sale off the pre-order of the game as they do with nearly every big release, but GOG goes one step further by not only making the game DRM-free, but also offering up one free RPG of your choice among 5 games: Gothic 2 Gold, Realms of Arkania 1 + 2 (sold as one), Realms of Arkania 3, Divine Divinity, or Beyond Divinity. You will also receive 10 high-definition wallpapers, the tracks that didn't make it into the game's official soundtrack, a set of 10 avatars for the GOG forums, and even a neat little photo tour of the CD Projekt RED studios. All of this bonus content is expected to be sent immediately instead of having to wait for the game to ship next May.
