Lords of the Fallen 2 back in development limbo as CI Games cuts ties with new developer
Lords of the Fallen 2 has hit another major snag as publisher CI Games has confirmed they have terminated their work agreement with new developer Defiant Studios. The original partnership was announced just a year ago, although plans for Lords of the Fallen 2 have been public since 2015.
In a Polish press release translated by Eurogamer, CI Games made this statement regarding the split.
The termination of the agreement was submitted due to inadequate execution by Defiant [of] a key work stage (milestone no. 11), a so-called vertical slice. The quality of the work was lower than expected by the company, as precisely described in the agreement, despite three calls to improve the quality of this stage of work.
It's unclear if CI Games will now work to develop the game internally, or if they will seek another studio to work with. CI Games is currently working on developing Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts.
The developer of the original Lords of the Fallen, Deck 13, is currently working on The Surge 2, which is set to release later this year.
