Ys IX: Monstrum Nox introduces Aprilis and other characters Adol will meet in the city of Barduk
Falcom has revealed new information and screenshots for Ys IX: Monstrum Nox and has updated the official website, introducing the mysterious hooded woman and other characters Adol will meet in the city of Barduk.

Aprilis (voiced by Haruka Michii) - A mysterious woman whose distinctive features are her prosthetic arm and leg, as well as a sharp glare behind the hood she's wearing. Although her age is young, she has dignity which overwhelms others. She occasionally appears at front of the Monstrums and leaves advice-like words; the true intentions from her speeches & conducts are completely shrouded in mystery.
Parks (voiced by Kenyu Horiuchi) - A man who gets imprisoned in a cell right next to Adol's. Although he acts timidly in front of jailers and other prisoners, he gets calmed down when talking with Adol. His encounter with Adol becomes a chance to provide certain important information.
Carla - A merchant from the Pendleton Company which boasts the largest scope in the city. With excellent commerce skills, her father Riche puts a lot of expectations on her. Due to a certain incident in the company, she becomes involved with Adol. As a merchant, she gathers information from various places so she has some grasps on information regarding Adol.
Kilysha - Carla's younger sister. With a weak personality, she feels inferiority when compared to her sister who is advancing her career. The money Kilysha has gathered from her own sales has been stolen by somebody. This incident will eventually show her feelings toward her sister and the company.
Chante - Owner of the Dandelion bar who has a good mood. An informed source who has a broad range of associates and takes good care of people. He also knows about the situations surrounding the Romun Empire and Church of Star Sculpt, so his advice should become very helpful to Adol.
Yufa - A bright and energetic girl who works as a waitress at Dandelion. She is also a hard worker who supports her far younger siblings. While most other characters in this game have strong quirks, she has a very straight personality. Her charm point is on her eye mole.
Riche - The current leader of Pendleton family which is experienced in commerce. He has a lot of enemies because he takes any means to get profit, using it to take them down and expand his business. He trains both of his daughters strictly so they can grow into first-rate merchants.
The latest issue of Famitsu also details a different battle skill for each of the other playable party members who join up with Adol:
- Hawk: Carnage Lancer - Thrusts at front of the enemy, and launches a single stab so powerful like a laser. It has a very long reach, so he can also fight without enemies noticing him.
- White Cat: Wild Scratch - Instantly flies towards an enemy's bosom and launches a 2-hit combo. This attack is very quick, it can be connected from a normal attack instantly.
- Doll: Illusion Dance - A 3-hit combo attack from a stab, spinning slash, to an explosion. It has a high hit count and can cover a wide range.
- Renegade: Dark Inferno - Creates a sphere at front of him, which pulls in surrounding enemies and deal continuous damage to them. He can also move while this attack is active.
- Raging Bull: Stampede - Rushes while covering herself with a shockwave, dealing impact damage. It has high power and can topple down small enemies.
Finally, Japanese players who have PS4 save data for Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana or Ys: Memories of Celceta Kai can also get a bonus accessory at the start of the game that cannot be obtained in the game otherwise. These are:
- Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana - Ancient Sealed Ring (gives Status up + Special Skill Effect Up)
- Ys: Memories of Celceta Kai - Celceta Flower Ornament (gives Status up + Curse resistance)
Ys IX: Monstrum Nox is set to release in Japan on September 26 for PlayStation 4. An English localization has yet to be announced.
