Super Robot Wars V and Super Robot Wars X are coming to Nintendo Switch and PC Steam in Japan
Bandai Namco has today announced on their official Twitter account for the Super Robot Wars series that they will release Super Robot Wars V and Super Robot Wars X for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. These two mecha crossover turn-based strategy RPGs were first released in 2017 and 2018 respectively on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.
As the Switch has already received the most recent game - Super Robot Wars T - earlier this year in March 2019, today's news means that the Switch will soon have the recent trilogy of standalone console SRW games playable on the platform. Today's news also marks for the first time ever that a Super Robot Wars will officially receive a PC release.
Famitsu has also published a preview of their coverage for the Switch & Steam releases of Super Robot Wars V that will be available in this week's Famitsu magazine in Japan. From here, we learn that the 20 bonus scenarios that were released as DLC on PS4 and Vita will be already included in the Switch and PC ports. However, there will still be day-one early purchase incentives for extra upgrade parts and early unlocks of series original robots Huckebein and Grungust.
As of this writing, a release timeframe for these ports has yet to be confirmed. Although an English localization has not been confirmed either, it can be assumed that they will be announced soon - albeit it might be only available in Asia. As a reference, the original PS4 and Vita releases of both SRWV and SRWX, as well as Bandai Namco's recent titles Super Robot Wars T and SD Gundam G Generation Cross Rays, have all received an English localization for Southeast Asia.
